Green Valley Arizona, a retirement community is located in the fertile Santa Cruz River Valley, midway between Tucson and Nogales. It is a successful modern community built in an area full of historic lore. Green Valley occupies part of the vast San Ignacio de las Canoa grant which was given to New Spain by the Spanish Crown in the 16th century. Green Valley is home to the Titan II Missile Museum (the only one of it’s kind) which is open daily for public tours.

Economic Activities: Green Valley Arizona is primarily a retirement community, and much of the town’s income is in the form of transfer payments, Social Security payments, private retirement benefits, stock dividends and savings withdrawals. Many retirees are former executives and are retained as consultants by their former employers or other companies. Many full-time employed persons travel to Tucson or are employed by local service based employers. Green Valley has 2 shopping centers with over 300 shops, stores and restaurants. Adjoining Sahuarita experiencing significant commercial growth. Recently opened stores include: Super-Wal Mart, American Home Furnishings, Fry’s Marketplace, Checker Auto Parts and many other retail businesses under construction.

The country that surrounds Green Valley abounds with historic attractions - early Spanish missions, frontier outposts and old mines. Tubac, the Southwest’s oldest Spanish settlement, has been a frontier town, an army outpost, and is now an active artist colony. The San Xavier del Bac Mission and the Tumacacori Nation Monument are both 1700 Spanish mission built by Jesuit priests. Scent drives and recreational opportunities are plentiful: Pena Blanca Lake, Arivaca Lake, Madera Canyon, Kitt Peak Observatory, Tohono O’Odham Indian Reservation, and Nogales Mexico. Green Valley attractions include the Titan II Mission Museum, several annual golf tournaments and the three-day Country Fair & Parade in October.
